Birds have caused three separate power outages over the last three days in the Brentwood and Cool Springs area.
Birds flying into MTEMC's Brentwood Substation distrupted power Thursday morning, Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon. In each instance, nearly 6,000 MTEMC members lost power for 20-30 minutes.
The Brentwood Substation serves a number of commercial members, including the Cool Springs Galleria area, in addition to thousands of residential members.
"Birds flying into substations is a reality of the electric industry," said MTEMC's Chris Jones, "but for it to happen three times over three days at the same station is highly unusual."
Jones said MTEMC has an engineering team examining the situation.
