Middle Tennessee Electric will be working to improve residential electric service in Lebanon Oct. 29, which will require outages along South Cumberland Street in Lebanon.
The scheduled work will require about 100 residences to be without power while crews work to double the voltage of the South Lebanon substation and replace aging transformers along South Cumberland Street. The scheduled times for the outages are set to begin at 12 p.m. and last approximately until 4 p.m.
“This will be the first of several conversions planned for South Cumberland Street over the next several months,” MTEMC Field Engineer Chris Weaver said. “Doubling our systems line voltage improves the amount of electricity the lines can carry and decreases electric current losses making our system more efficient and reliable.”
Specifically, the affected locations include those along South Cumberland Street from I-40 to just south of Legend’s Drive before the Hardee’s restaurant. Members living in the Cedarwoods Apartments will be affected.
Should weather become inclement, the work will be postponed until Oct. 30.
