Energy Star

Middle Tennessee Electric was the first electric utility in the state of Tennessee to become an Energy Star partner. Energy Star is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy, designed to help citizens and businesses save money and protect the environment through energy-efficient products and practices.

MTEMC, through its Energy Star partnership, offers a number of benefits to members who make energy-efficient choices.

New Homes
MTEMC pays cash incentives for home builders – from a major developer to someone building their own home – who take the appropriate energy efficient steps in construction.

Water Heating
MTEMC pays cash incentives for members choosing to power their water heater with electricity, and greater incentives for those who choose super-efficient water heaters.

Heat-and-Air systems
A loan program is available for purchasing a system and incentives are available for energy-efficient systems.
