To reduce the continuous cutting or trimming of large trees in residential areas, Middle Tennessee Electric offers a tree replacement program for qualifying situations. A qualifying tree for removal would be considered a “yard tree.” A yard tree would typically be defined as a tree where the yard/lawn around it is consistently maintained (360 degrees around the tree). If you have a large-growing tree in your yard and you permit us to remove it from under our lines, we will replace it with a low-growing tree such as flowering crabapple, dogwood, saucer magnolia, redbud, or others. Trees are planted between November 1 and April 15 of each year and are guaranteed for one year. If you have questions or need request forms, please contact your local right-of-way specialist.
