Looking for a place to start with trimming trees outside the rights-of-way?

As a convenience to its members, MTE maintains a list of licensed and insured contractors that are qualified to perform right-of-way (“ROW”) clearance to MTE standards in preparation for the construction of new power lines for our members.

MTE uses the following criteria to screen and approve professional contractors for inclusion on the list:

Licensing and Certification

ROW Contractor Network vendors must have been in business for at least one year and must maintain all applicable licenses and certifications, including but not limited to, an active business license and Line Clearance Certification.

Insurance

ROW Contractor Network vendors must carry a minimum of $5,000,000 in general liability insurance. Vendors must also carry worker's compensation insurance that meets minimum coverage as required by state law; if a contractor is exempt from worker's compensation insurance requirements, they must provide written acknowledgment from the state where exempt.

Performance standards

ROW Contractor Network vendors shall maintain their business, employees, and subcontractors in a way that is compliant with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Participating contractors further must:

  • comply with all MTE quality guidelines and clearance requirements;
  • demonstrate quality work and a high level of customer service;
  • have appropriate and sufficient equipment in good working condition;
  • have personnel that present themselves in a professional manner at all times; and
  • timely respond to customer complaints and honor any warranties provided to customers.

Failure to abide by the standards above may result in suspension or termination from the ROW Contractor Network list.

ROW Contractor Network vendors must not perform vegetation maintenance within 20’ of any existing power line per MTE safety requirements.

Any ROW Contractor Network vendor is solely responsible for its services. MTE does not guarantee the services of any such contractor and is in no way liable for the performance of services or any damages caused thereby.
